Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about cloning, migrating, restoring and rebuilding websites, the questions clients actually ask us.

Website cloning basics

What does "cloning a website" actually mean?

It means recreating an existing website, its design, layout and content, as a new, working, editable site you control. A professional clone is a faithful rebuild, not a raw file download, so forms, speed and SEO all work afterward.

Is a cloned site an exact copy?

Visually, yes, we match design pixel-for-pixel by default. Technically it is rebuilt clean on your chosen platform (usually WordPress), which is why it loads faster and stays editable rather than being a frozen snapshot.

Can you clone any website?

We can rebuild virtually any public website regardless of the platform it runs on. What no one can copy is the server-side logic, databases, user accounts and checkout systems, those are re-engineered, not copied.

Can you copy just one page or section?

Yes. Single landing pages are one of our most common jobs, from $149. You do not have to clone a whole site.

Migration & SEO

Will moving my site hurt my Google rankings?

Not when done correctly. We preserve URLs or map 301 redirects one-to-one, migrate all metadata and structured data, and match or beat your old page speed. Handled this way, migrations protect rankings and often improve them.

Do you keep my existing URLs?

Wherever possible, yes, identical URLs carry zero transfer risk. Where a platform forces changes, we map a 301 redirect from each old URL to its closest new one, never bulk-redirecting to the homepage.

Can you migrate my site without downtime?

Yes. We build and verify on staging, keep your old site live until the new one is confirmed, and switch DNS in a low-traffic window. Zero-downtime launches are the default, not a premium.

Legality & ethics

Is it legal to copy a website?

Copying your own site, or one you are authorized to rebuild, is completely legal and routine. Copying someone else's content, branding or code without permission is not. We only rebuild sites you own or have the right to. See our detailed guide on the legality of copying websites.

Will you clone a competitor's website for me?

No. We do not copy sites you have no rights to. We are happy to build you an original site inspired by layouts you like, that is legal and effective, but a direct copy of someone else's brand and content is not something we do.

Recovery & backups

My website is gone. Can you get it back?

Often, yes. If the site was public, the Wayback Machine and caches usually hold enough to reconstruct it. We run a free feasibility check: send the domain and we report how much is recoverable before you spend anything.

Can you recover a site with no backups at all?

Frequently. Public archives do not depend on your backups. We combine multiple snapshot dates, pull assets from caches, and rebuild, then set you up with real backups so it never happens again.

Pricing & process

How much does it cost?

Landing pages start at $149, full multi-page sites from $399, and complex or e-commerce projects from $899. You get a fixed price up front, use our cost calculator for an instant range.

How long does a project take?

A landing page is 2-4 business days; a typical business site 1-2 weeks; large or e-commerce sites 2-4 weeks. Your quote includes a firm timeline.

What do you need from me to start?

Usually just the URL (or domain, if the site is down) and a note on what you want, clone, migrate, restore or refresh. We handle the technical rest.

Do I own everything at the end?

Completely. You receive all files, the database, and every credential. The site is yours to host anywhere, with no lock-in to us or any platform.

What if something breaks after launch?

Every project includes a 30-day support window to fix anything related to the work. We also run a 47-point QA check before delivery, so issues are rare.

Free tools

Are the free tools really free, or lead magnets with a paywall?

Really free: no accounts, no email gates, no stored results. They exist because people who check a site with our tools often become clients later, which is enough business model for us.

Do the tools store the URLs I check?

No. Checks run on demand and results are not saved. The redirect map generator does not even send data to our server: it runs entirely in your browser.

Why do tool results sometimes differ from other checkers?

Different tools fetch differently. Ours request pages the way a real browser does, which sees through some bot-blocking that trips simpler checkers, and we follow redirects to the final URL before analysing.

Can I use the tools for client work or competitor research?

Yes. Everything the tools read is public information any browser receives. Agencies use our detector and headers checker in audits daily; a link back is appreciated, never required.

Ownership & delivery

Who owns the rebuilt website when you finish?

You do, entirely: files, database, admin accounts, and the hosting account which is registered in your name from day one. Our access gets revoked at handover unless you keep us for maintenance.

What exactly do I receive at delivery?

The live verified site, every credential (hosting, admin, database, any connected services), a plain-language summary of what was built and how, the redirect map where applicable, and 30 days of free support.

Can my own developer take over after you?

Yes, by design. We deliver standard WordPress with no proprietary lock-in of ours: any competent developer can maintain it. We are happy to do a handover call with them.

Do you keep a copy of my site or my data afterwards?

We keep project archives for 60 days in case you need an emergency restore, then delete them. On written request we delete immediately at handover.
