How Much Does It Cost to Clone a Website in 2026?
Prices for “copying a website” range from $5 gigs to $10,000 agency invoices, which tells you the phrase means wildly different things to different sellers. Here are the real numbers behind honest offers, and what moves them.
Typical market prices in 2026
| Project type | Typical range | Timeline |
|---|---|---|
| Landing page (single page) | $150 – $300 | 2-4 days |
| Business website (5-15 pages) | $400 – $900 | 5-10 days |
| Website restoration from archives | $200 – $800 | 4-8 days |
| E-commerce / complex functionality | $900 – $3,000+ | 2-4 weeks |
Our own pricing sits inside these ranges: landing pages from $149, full websites from $490, complex builds from $1,290.
The four factors that actually move the price
1. Number of unique layouts, not number of pages
Forty blog posts sharing one template cost barely more than ten. Ten pages with ten distinct designs cost real money. When you request a quote, providers count templates.
2. Interactive complexity
Static sections are fast. Calculators, multi-step quizzes, filtering catalogs, custom maps and animation-heavy scrolling each add hours, they are rebuilt as working code, not screenshots.
3. Content volume and migration
Moving 800 products or 300 articles with images and metadata is scripted, verified work. It scales the price sublinearly, but it scales it.
4. Integrations
CRMs, payment gateways, booking systems and email platforms need to be reconnected and tested on the new stack. Each integration is a line item.
What the $5-50 offers actually deliver
Cheap gigs run an automated scraper (the same thing free tools do, see our tools comparison) and hand you the output: a static snapshot with dead forms, broken mobile menus, hotlinked images from the original server and unmaintainable code. As archival souvenirs they are fine. As business websites they cost more to fix than a proper rebuild costs to order, we know because fixing them is a recurring source of our projects.
Hidden costs to check before you sign
- Deployment. Is installation on your hosting and domain included, or a surprise extra?
- Forms and analytics. “Design only” quotes leave forms decorative and tracking absent.
- Responsive versions. Mobile and tablet must be explicit, not assumed.
- Source handover. You should own all files and access; anything retained is leverage.
- Revisions. How many rounds are included, and what counts as scope change?
- Support window. Reputable providers include 2-4 weeks of post-launch fixes; ours is 30 days.
Clone versus building from scratch
The same business website built from zero, with design, copywriting rounds and revisions, typically costs 3-5x the cloning price and takes 4-8x longer. When a proven design already exists (yours, or one you have rights to), cloning is the rational path; the full comparison is in Clone vs build from scratch.
