Situation & fix
I Only Have Screenshots or Old Files of My Website
The site is offline, the archive coverage is thin, and what remains is a folder of screenshots, an old PDF export, a designer's mockups or a developer's abandoned files. Fragments are enough more often than you would expect.
What counts as usable source material
Almost anything visual or textual: full-page screenshots (best), phone photos of screens (workable), print-to-PDF saves, Figma or PSD mockups, a local www folder from an old laptop, marketing PDFs reusing site content, even video walkthroughs, we pause frames and extract layouts. Text can be OCR’d from images and then proofread; logos and photos are often recoverable in original quality from email attachments, social media uploads and printer-ready files.
How reconstruction works
We inventory the fragments and map them to a page list, cross-checking against whatever the Wayback Machine still holds: even two snapshots fill gaps that screenshots miss (menus, footers, metadata). Layout is rebuilt as a clean theme matching the visual references; content is transcribed, OCR’d and proofed; missing images are replaced with equivalents you approve. The deliverable is a normal editable WordPress site, not a facsimile: forms work, pages edit, SEO fields exist.
Setting expectations honestly
Reconstruction quality follows source quality, so the feasibility check comes first and costs nothing: send what you have, we reply with a page-by-page map of what is fully recoverable, what needs approximation, and a fixed price. When a section is unrecoverable, we say so before work starts, and our restoration service quotes only what can genuinely be delivered.
Frequently asked questions
My screenshots are low-resolution. Is that a dealbreaker?
Usually not for layout, which we rebuild from proportions rather than pixels. Small text may need retyping from memory or other documents; we flag every such spot for your review instead of guessing silently.
I have the old files but no idea if they are complete. Can you check?
Yes, send the folder as-is. We audit it against archive data and tell you what it covers. Half-complete local files plus thin archive coverage often combine into a full reconstruction.
Can you modernize the design while rebuilding?
Yes, within the same project: keep the structure and content, refresh spacing, typography and responsiveness. Many clients take this option since the site is being rebuilt anyway.
